About Us

Heal Our Harbor, Inc. (HOH) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) Public Charity dedicated to the restoration, preservation, and support of aquatic resources constituting the Charlotte Harbor, FL Watershed. This vital resource covers 350 square miles, parts of seven counties, and contains the Charlotte Harbor, Myakka River and Peace River Basins

Our environmental advocacy organization led by retired scientists and educators began in early 2022. Through our programs, HOH seeks to inform and educate stakeholders, including Citizen Scientists, Governmental entities, Civic organizations and the general public on the condition, safety, and importance of our aquatic resources.

As an all-volunteer public charity, Heal Our Harbor derives most of its funding from small, individual donations. Some programs are partially supported by service organizations and governmental entities.

Heal Our Harbor’s current programs include monthly water monitoring and contaminant testing at multiple locations. A recent initiative is the Citizens Partnership for Clean Canals (CPCC) program, an alliance between Heal Our Harbor, Team Punta Gorda, and Charlotte County with additional support from The University of Miami and City of Punta Gorda staff.

Our adult educational program, Charlotte Harbor Ambassador Training (CHAT), instructs attendees on the history, composition, and challenges facing the Charlotte Harbor Estuary. This program consists of a combination of seminars and field hands-on opportunities.
